Relex Smile in Turkey

What is Relex Smile?

The Erdem Health Group offers laser eye surgery with this innovative high-end process and the most recent femtosecond laser Visumax from Zeiss. With the patented Relex Smile laser eye treatment, which is gentle, safe, and flap-free, refractive errors can be corrected for myopia up to -10 dpt and astigmatism up to 5 dpt.

The Relex Smile method replaces the conventional and proven LASIK method and offers an “All-Femto-LASIK” procedure. It is therefore an eye laser procedure where only the extremely precise femtosecond laser is used. With this method, Visumax Femto laser eye surgery is performed.

A lens (slice of the cornea) is prepared without opening the cornea. The Femto laser then makes a small cut around the edge of the lens to loosen and remove the lens. Thus, a large incision and opening of the upper layer of the cornea (flap) is avoided (as required for conventional LASIK/Femto-LASIK). This method is very suitable for patients with thinner corneas, dry eyes, and high refractive errors.

Before Relex Smile in Turkey

Before undergoing the ReLEx Smile procedure, it is important to understand the risks, benefits, and alternatives to the procedure, as well as what to expect during the recovery process.

Some common pre-operative steps include having a comprehensive eye exam, discussing your medical history with your doctor, and informing your doctor of any medications you are taking. Additionally, you may be asked to stop wearing contact lenses or to switch to glasses for a period of time before the procedure.

After Relex Smile

After the ReLEx Smile procedure, it is normal to experience some side effects, such as temporary dryness, itching, and sensitivity to light. Your doctor may prescribe eye drops to help with these symptoms.

You should avoid rubbing or touching your eyes for the first few days after the procedure. Most people can return to their normal daily activities within a few days, but we recommend avoiding strenuous physical activity for at least a week.

You should attend all follow-up appointments with your doctor to monitor your progress and ensure proper healing. Your vision may be blurry immediately after the procedure, but it will improve over the next few days to weeks. It may take several months for your eyes to fully heal and for you to see the full results of the procedure.

Relex Smile in Turkey FAQ

If you don't see an answer to your question, you can send us an email from our contact form.

The length of time you need to stay in Turkey for surgery will depend on the specific details of your procedure and your recovery. Typically, the surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure, and the patient can go home the same day. However, you may need to stay in Turkey for a few days to allow time for post-operative check-ups and to make sure the eye is healing properly.

The number of days in advance you should come to Turkey for surgery will depend on the specific details of your procedure and your travel plans. Typically, you will need to schedule a preoperative consultation with the surgeon before the procedure. This appointment is necessary to assess your eye health, determine the best type of relex smile for your needs, and discuss the details of the surgery.

This is probably one of the best ReLEx SMILE FAQs that people always ask, and for good reason! The laser can be a scary thing to us considering how big screens are popularizing its use for space wars and swords that can cut through anything. But don't worry! Unlike what is marketed in the entertainment industry, the laser for ReLEx SMILE is painless and invisible to the eye. In fact, what poses the real challenge here is the anxiety patients may experience before surgery.

In general, patients achieve better vision within a week, but they can usually return to work after about 3 days. In the meantime, they should rest more and reduce eye strain. Following some post-surgery eye care tips will help. They should also be ready to resume normal activities after 24 hours. However, there will still be restrictions on activities such as swimming until the recommended time.

RELEX SMILE and LASIK are different. People who are not suitable for LASIK may be suitable for SMILE and vice versa. However, studies have shown that there is a trend towards higher satisfaction for SMILE patients than LASIK. In addition, SMILE has some advantages such as no risk of flap complications as well as reduced risk of dry eye after surgery. However, it can only treat nearsightedness or astigmatism.

SMILE is less likely to cause dry eyes. Dry eye is a very common condition after surgery in LASIK patients. Indeed, the operation involves creating a flap of about 20 mm. This flap damages the nerves on the surface of the cornea that is responsible for regulating tear secretion.

The SMILE procedure is safe. It's an FDA-approved process. In addition, patients will also be informed about expectations and precautions. During surgery, the patient's eye will be numbed with drops. This will reduce discomfort as well as the natural urge to blink. The laser machine will also have an eye-tracking system to reduce changes in any patient eye or head movements.

Blurred vision for the first few hours after surgery is normal. Vision will start to clear after 24 hours. However, it is not uncommon for some patients to still experience blurred vision. But after a few weeks, vision stabilized and the patient saw better.

Yes. SMILE can treat astigmatism (san guang in Chinese pinyin) as well as nearsightedness (myopia). However, it's best to consult an ophthalmologist to determine if surgery can completely correct your astigmatism. Indeed, SMILE has a certain limit to how much astigmatism it can treat. In general, the thicker your cornea, the higher the degree of astigmatism that SMILE can correct.

No. Performing the operation twice can lead to possible complications. This is because the nature of the surgery involved in removing duckweed from the patient's eye has limitations in correcting errors.
